1) Granite is less absorbent than some other solid surfaces. Granite is commonly used as building material for high-rise buildings due to its ability to withstand strong gales of wind and rain.
2) Granite is resistant to stains. Any liquid spilled on a granite top if wiped within a few minutes will not stain. Even water can soak into a granite counter top if left for a long time and leave a dark spot. However, it will evaporate when it dries out. Liquids that do not evaporate, such as oils will cause a stain if allowed to soak into the stone.
3) Most stains can be removed using a poultice or paste that will draw it out of the stone.
4) Granite will retain its polish over the years.
5) Regular cleaning with a mild non abrasive household cleaner is all that is required. Once a year we recommend resealing the granite. This process can usually be done in less time then it takes to remove stains and scratches from other solid surfaces.
